Direct support for printers

The Printers feature in the Direct Support interface lets you view and manage printers configured on a managed device. With the printer tool, you can:

  • View detailed printer information.

  • Set a default printer.

  • Start and stop print jobs.

  • Print test pages.

  • Delete printers.

This feature is only available for managed Windows devices with N-able N-central agents installed.

  1. Go to Views > All Devices and select the Network Devices tab.
  2. Select the device Name.
  3. Go to Tools > Printers.
  4. Review the list of printer and output options.
  5. In the Select User drop-down menu, choose the user account that controls printers on the managed device.

Select the column options button (three vertical lines) at the far right of the column titles to customise the displayed columns.

You cannot log in directly to a Windows computer using a Service User Account. These accounts allow administrators to configure applications and the printers that run under them. As with a Windows user account, you can perform printer operations using Service User Accounts.
